Bedford and District Model Club Exhibtion

Bedford and District Model Club, in association with Twinwood Airfield, are pleased to annouce their first model exhibition. This event will take place in buildings throughout the Twinwood Airfield museum site (click here for more details on how to find the site) on Sunday 17th October from 10:30am until 4:00pm. Our aim is to promote the model making hobby to the local community, make the community more aware of our club and what we do, attract more and new visitors to this delightful local museum and hopefully attract a new member or two along the way!

Twinwood is a site steeped in WW2 history, it served as a satellite field for Cranfield and the 51st Operational Training Unit based there. The 51st was a Nightfighter OTU so Twinwood saw plenty of traffic from Beaufighters and the like. It was also used as a drop off point for many visiting high ranking Americans, with 8th Air Force Service Command HQ a couple of miles down the road at Milton Ernest Hall. It is of course best known for it's association with Glenn Miller and it was from Twinwood that Miller's ill fated last flight departed on 15th December 1944.

Entry will be £3 for adults (under 16's are free) and this will include entry to museum, the control tower and the model exhibition. All admission fees will go directly to supporting the museum
